Last Friday, Charles successfully defended his PhD thesis and earned his doctoral degree in neurosciences 🧑🏻‍🎓. His work explored local mRNA translation in dopaminergic axons, shedding light on how locally translated mRNAs regulate axon growth during development and ensure axon maintenance in adulthood.

This fundamental research is a key step toward understanding how this unique neuronal population is established—and how we can ultimately enhance dopaminergic cell replacement therapies for disorders such as Parkinson’s disease.

We are incredibly proud of Charles and deeply grateful for his sustained commitment to the lab, including his dedication to mentoring and training interns and new students. He will be continuing his scientific journey as a postdoctoral fellow in the same field, and we are excited to see how his rigor, drive, and determination will shape the next chapter of his career!
